Grief Guidance: Honoring Loss as Sacred Transition

In my work as a grief guide, I offer a compassionate, sacred space for those navigating the profound journey of loss. Grief is not merely an emotion but a life-altering transition—an invitation to honor what has passed while embracing the soul work of transformation. I hold each client’s grief journey with deep respect, guiding you to explore it as a path of healing, growth, and connection to your own soul.

Grief is universal, yet it is often brushed aside in our culture, devalued as a crucial and ripening experience. Loss is a thread that binds us all; none of us are spared. We will all encounter endings, face the deaths of loved ones, and eventually confront our own mortality. Grief, as challenging as it can be, connects us to the greater web and cycle of life, and profoundly, to our own soul.

Grief work is soul work because it brings us to the core of who we are, peeling back the layers of identity and certainty we once held. As Sameet Kumar says, “We grieve whenever an understanding of our identity has been lost.” Loss shifts the familiar ground of our lives, inviting us to turn inward and rediscover ourselves. This process is one of deep transformation—grieving allows us to honor what has been lost while creating space for a new understanding of who we are and our place in the world. By tending to our grief, we cultivate compassion, resilience, and a profound connection to our soul’s journey.

My approach weaves together my background in transpersonal counseling with the wisdom of teachers like Francis Weller, with whom I studied Grief Ritual facilitation in 2018, learning the lineage of Maladoma Somé. I also draw on the teachings of Martín Prechtel, Stephen Jenkinson, and Mirabai Starr, each of whom reveres the depth and spiritual dimensions of grief. Additionally, I incorporate creative techniques gained from my training with the Creative Grief Studio, alongside therapeutic practices like Focusing—a gentle somatic method to access the body’s wisdom—and Narrative Therapy-Based Re-membering Conversations, which honor past influences, uncover strengths, and bring continuity to life’s story.

Another tool I bring to my work is ritual. Grief is a soul process that cannot be fully understood or controlled by the linear mind. It runs its own course, and our role is to be present with it, listening to its potent teachings when we are able. Ritual offers a profound way to honor grief and loss, as it speaks directly to the realms of the soul, the unconscious, and the mystical. It also reconnects us with the natural world, which teaches us with beautiful simplicity about cycles, endings, and the promise of rebirth.

In our sessions, we create a sanctuary for your sorrow—a space to feel deeply, honor your loss, and uncover the wisdom your grief holds for your journey. Whether through one-on-one sessions, group workshops, or community Grief Rituals, my intention is to offer a sacred and supportive ground where you can tend to your sadness and rediscover your strength, compassion, and connection to the greater web of life.

This work is profoundly personal to me. After the death of my husband, Matthew, and two miscarriages, my own journey with grief broke me open in a life-altering way. These losses stripped away my sense of self, forcing me to find new meaning and purpose. Guided by Matthew, my spirit children, and the wisdom of beloved teachers and guides, I found my way to this path. In their honor, and in honor of all life, I dedicate myself to this work—to holding space for others on their sacred grief journeys.
